In short: FlightDial collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, and no server of ours. Your location is used on your watch to work out where aircraft are relative to you, and it never leaves the device in a form that identifies you.

1. Data we collect

None. FlightDial has no user accounts, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and no backend service operated by Mishigo OÜ. We cannot see who uses the app, where they are, or what they look at.

2. How your location is used

FlightDial asks for location access so it can place aircraft at their true bearing and distance from you, and so the dial can turn with your compass.

Your location is used in two ways, both without identifying you:

  • On the watch, to draw aircraft in the right place on the dial and to decide when one is about to pass overhead.
  • In an anonymous query to the public ADS-B service described below, asking which aircraft are near a set of coordinates. The request carries no name, account, device identifier or advertising identifier.

Your most recent coordinates are stored on the watch itself so the app can draw a map immediately the next time you open it. That value never leaves the device, and it is removed when you delete the app.

If you deny location access, FlightDial keeps working as a clock. It cannot show aircraft, because it has no way to know which aircraft are near you.

3. The aircraft data service

Aircraft positions come from adsb.lol, a public community ADS-B service, used without an account or API key under the Open Database License (ODbL). Where adsb.lol returns nothing for a region, the app makes the same anonymous request to airplanes.live, a second community service, as a fallback.

When a dial is on screen, the app requests the aircraft near a set of coordinates at most once every five seconds. It makes no requests while the app is in the background or while the screen is dimmed.

As with any internet request, whichever service answers receives your device's IP address and the coordinates being asked about. Their handling of it is governed by their own policies, not ours. We receive nothing.

4. Payments

FlightDial is free and contains no purchases of any kind. There is no payment, so there is no payment data.

5. Settings stored on your watch

Your preferences stay on the device: the zoom level and whether the dial follows your compass. Deleting the app removes them.

6. Children

FlightDial is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.

7. Your rights under GDPR

Rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection apply to personal data a company holds about you. Because FlightDial gives us no personal data to hold, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or erase.

Everything the app stores is on your own device and under your control. You can revoke location access at any time in Watch Settings, under Privacy & Security, and deleting the app removes everything it has stored.

You may still contact us with any question about this policy, and you have the right to complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate.

8. Changes

If a future version of FlightDial changes what it collects, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described here rather than made quietly.
